I can see clearly now...

I could no longer stand the bangs in his eyes. So, Jack received a haircut...

For Your Friday...

Jason and I will be spending the weekend on Lake Martin with about 5 other couples. We are going to the AUvsLSU game, on Saturday. Jack was not invited, so he will be staying here with grandparents. Here are a few new pics...

Hangin' with the Bivonas

We love to hang out with our friends, Jeremy and Lisa, because their little girl is only 2 months older than Jack. We used to see them regularly, but the summer was busy and then football season started (they go to all of the games). So, last weekend was the first time we've seen them since May. Jack and Marina had fun together. After an aggravating Auburn game, they put Marina down in the bedroom and we played poker until the wee hours of the morning. Fionnuala and Paul participated in the games, as well.

Jack isn't a whole lot smaller than Marina, but he looks tiny compared to her, in the picture. It's because her chair is so much taller. We were hoping Jack could learn a thing or two from her. Her vocabulary is extremely developed for a 17 month old.

Today was my grandfather's funeral. I miss him so much. It breaks my heart that my grandmother has survived two husbands. I couldn't imagine going through such pain, twice. I don't even remember the first time I met Richard because I was so young when they married. They had been married for 24 years. My grandmother is an amazing woman, who has loved and been married to 2 men over the last 60+ years.

The funeral was in Brookside. We took a little trip back in time and drove by Gran's old house. I rarely venture into the Forestdale area , since Gran moved from there. Also, I got to see my Papa's grave, which I was too young to remember ever visiting.

Sadness

My grandfather passed away last Sunday. It ended a painful 6 weeks for him and my family. Well, I guess ended is not the correct word because the sadness is not over. I'm not going to say much else because it makes me sad.

As I write this, I have much family in route to my house. To accommodate everyone I blew up an air mattress, so my brothers can sleep in Jack's room. This is what I found, when I walked in there....

Flash forward 15 years, and picture Jack just like these pictures talking to some girlfriend.

Update

Well, it appears that Jack has a double ear infection and strep throat. Apparently, he is too young to get strep, but the doctor said that was what it looked like. Poor baby. Jason took him to the doctor, this morning, and I came home after lunch. I think I'm going to skip my training tomorrow and stay home with my sick son.

It's hard to be a working mom.

Sick, Again

Well, Jack is sick, again. Around 1pm his daycare calls to tell us he has 100.6 fever. He has been feeling so great, lately, that I was convinced it had to do with teething or he had just gotten himself worked up. Jason brought him home because I couldn't leave work. After Jason went back to work, I took his temp and it was 102.6!! I left the nurse a message and then called Jason. We were out of tylenol, so he left work (again) to bring us some tylenol. I rocked Jack for a long time because he felt awful. After he took his medicine, we laid in bed for 45 minutes. That is amazing because he has never been still in our bed. The nurse gave us all of kinds of advice and he seems to be perking up some. I'm sure that is from the tylenol.

Believe it or not, this is a baby with a high fever (playing in his corner)...
