GAME DAY - Round 1

Saturday morning I got Jack all dressed up to take some pictures in his new Auburn outfit. It is so hard to take his picture, now. He won't sit still.

This little episode ended with grease on Jack's hands and face.

My mom thinks he's going to be a catcher because he is always squatting.

The following pictures are Jason using the backpack blower on Jack. He loved it....

In our Thoughts

I decided it's time to send some prayers out...

1. I talked to Jack's Aunt Jennifer, tonight, and she sounded like she felt awful. Last week she had her tonsils removed. Ouch! I know what you are going through. When I had jaw surgery, I drank my food for 4 weeks!

2. Jack's cousin Will's second surgery was postponed until Friday. We are happy the first one went well and we hope they can get that tube out of his throat soon. We love you.

3. Jack's great-grandfather, Richard, started chemo and radiation last week. We are praying that Gustav won't head straight for Foley or we are coming to get you. =)

I don't know what to do about the "mop" on his head. I snip at it all the time, but I think he's ready for his first official haircut.

Round Two

He may be young, but this is his second football season. Here are some pictures from last Fall:

Is that Sun?

During a break in the tropical storm rains, Jack and I played on the front porch. These pictures are fairly blurry. Maybe my dad will let me borrow his fancy camera before the big game, this weekend.

Auburn is #1!

Waiting on the Pass!

I'm in my position!

Ready, Set...

Good Job, Team!

Can you guess what the theme of the week?

Sloss Furnace

Jason, Jack and I attended Stokin' the Fire at Sloss Furnaces. It was a music and barbecue festival. There were a lot of people there and tons of barbecue. It's a fairly expensive event, but we had free tickets through my work. One of the barbecue tents was a company called Book Systems and they gave all the librarians free tickets. It is an all weekend event, but our tickets were for Friday night, so we loaded Jack up and took him. We had a nice time.

4 posts in 1

There have only been two exact times that I remember having a migraine. They were both in middle school. Both of those times, I remember the blurred vision before the headache hit. Yesterday, I was preparing dinner, when I developed a funny spot in my vision. I thought that I had looked at a bright light. Well, when it didn't go away, I knew what is was and panicked. I called Jason and then ran around getting Jack ready for today's daycare because I was afraid that I was going to be out for the evening. Sure enough, Jason got home at 5:30 and the headache hit. I laid in bed until 7:30, at which time I fell asleep until 5:30am. It was awful.

Right before the migraine hit, Jack and I arrived home to a package on our doorstep. Apparently, his Aunt Jennifer had been to Orlando (I didn't know that) and had sent him a souvenir. It was an adorable stuffed Eeyore. Eeyore is my favorite right behind tigger. I got home today and looked everywhere for Eeyore. Since I barely even remember last night, I didn't know what happened to him. After 10 minutes of searching, I found him...

I feel like I let Jack down, today. I was carrying him down to get the trash cans and, like usual, he screamed and kicked because he wanted to be down on the driveway. I put him down and tried to get him to go with me. He wouldn't. So, I left him there and walked the 10 feet to the end of the driveway. He took off after me and tumbled forward. The neighbor across the street came over because he heard the thud. Poor baby. It left a nasty scrape/bruise on his forehead and a scrape on his nose.

Jack got to play with three out of his four Birmingham girlfriends, last weekend...

That didn't take long.

Well, here I am on a Friday at 2pm blogging from home, while my son is asleep in his crib. He is miserably sick. He's had a runny nose for a week or so, which I expected with starting daycare. Yesterday morning, he woke up with some nastier stuff oozing out. (That's as far as I'm going on the description). He feels like crap. When I picked him up, yesterday, he looked awful. The nose was disgusting and his eyes were so puffy he looked sleepy. I told Jason that, if he looked like that in the morning, we were not sending him to daycare. Well, he felt so bad that he decided to wake on up with me around 5:30am. Jason kindly stayed home with him, while I went to work for half a day. Then, I came home so Jason could go to work. It never crossed my mind that I'd be using a sick day to stay home with Jack on my 6th day back to work. =)

Welcome back to the fray

I emailed our school system Technology Director about a number of problems that occurred, during my year off. After answering my questions, she wrote "Welcome back to the fray!!" Believe it or not, that expression calmed me down because I realized that I can only accomplish what I can accomplish. It's not logical to think that I can fix all of our technology problems in one day, since there will always be new ones (and I have a library to worry about).

Today, I received the following note in my work mailbox:

"Good morning, I am God, Today I will be handling all of your problems. I do not need your help. If you encounter a difficult situation today, let me take care of it. Kindly put in the SFGTD (Something For God To Do) box. It will be addressed in my time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box do not hold on or remove it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem. If it is a situation you think you can handle, please consult me in prayer to be sure it is the proper resolution. Because I do not sleep or slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest, my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer away.Your Loving Father,God"

Now that I'm getting up really early, Jack usually hears the noise in the house and wakes up around 6:15-6:30am. This morning, I left the house at 6:30am and he was still asleep. It made me sad that I didn't get to see him. Also, I brought one of his CDs to work with me and played it. That also made me sad because we play his CDs everyday and each of those songs remind me of him.

So, I have had multiple complaints about the lack of posts/pictures. I could post all day long at work. What I can't do at work is take pictures of Jack. It's going to take a few weeks for us to get our routine down and then I'm sure I'll be posting more frequently.

It doesn't matter what time of day it is, if you give Jack his blanket he'll suck his fingers and lay down:

The weekend

We finally got to meet Will. He was precious. We went straight to Northside Hospital, visited for a bit, then we went to lunch at Taco Mac with James and Jen. After lunch, we went back to see Will for a little while longer. He is in an incubator, so all we could do was reach in through the doors and touch him. They don't hold him a lot because it stimulates him too much. It was easy to tell he gets excited when you touch him. I was happy to get to see him. Also, I'm pleased that James started a Blog for him.

A little more about daycare... I knew that Jack would immediately transition into one nap a day, when he started daycare. He is overwhelmed with what is going on in the morning, so he doesn't sleep. Well, that has made the weekends kind of difficult. We just aren't quite as exciting as 5 or 6 toddlers running around a room, so he gets sleepy more easily. Today, Jack was in the basement with Jason while I was sanding the upstairs bathroom. Well, Jason noticed he had been awfully quiet. He looked at Jack and he was asleep. It as so cute. Here are a couple pics...
