I get it from my Uncle!

Don't ever question Jack's strange finger sucking habit.

Our Thoughts and Prayers

Aunt Jen and Uncle James are in our thoughts and prayers, today, as they attended her grandmother's funeral. They drove to Michigan, yesterday, and have to return home tonight.

We love you both and are looking forward to your move to Georgia, in June. Good luck with selling your house, finding a place to live, and moving 6 pets, in 3 months. And, congrats on finishing Vet School and good luck with your advanced training!

Nine Month Doc Visit

Jack had his 9 month check-up this morning (2 weeks late). The doctor said that he looked great. He weighed 19 lbs and was 29 1/2 inches long. That put him in the 25th percentile in weight and 80th percentile in height. He received 2 more vaccines and some blood drawn to check for anemia. Of course he cried when they stabbed him with the needles, but didn't make a sound when they pricked his finger.

In case you didn't know, Jack has been waking up in the middle of the night. It has been every night for the last week, but started a few weeks ago. We rock him, give him a bottle, and he goes back to sleep. As it turns out, he has been pulling a fast one over on us. The doctor said that Jack knows exactly what he is doing. It's not even that he is trying to get an extra bottle, he just wants to see his mommy and daddy. In other words, he is experiencing a little separation anxiety. So, wish us luck tonight, as we begin to phase this habit out. (My mom said that it sounds like he is lonely and she'd be more than happy to come hold him all night long. =)

Jack still does not have any teeth. The doctor said his gums were swollen and he expects a bunch to burst through soon.

After the doc visit, Jason insisted I go get the Super Playyard that I've been eying. He said that I'd go crazy this week, if I didn't have a way keep Jack from crawling all over the place.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. It was a beautiful day, but a little bit chilly. I always remember growing up and attending the sunrise service at our Church. It was usually around 6:45am and outside. It was always cold!

Jack had been up for 3 hours, when we headed to church. He slept the entire service in Jason's arms. It was the contemporary service and the music was really loud, but he didn't stir. Then,we went out to lunch. After lunch, Jeff and Mandy stopped by to visit.

His Easter outfit was a gift from LeeLee

Can you tell he was sleepy, before we left?

One last bottle to last us through church.

He tried to eat mom and dad's Easter candy.

We put Jack's golf outfit on for Jeff to see

Spring Break 2008!

When you are a teacher, Spring Break doesn't stop after graduating from college. Jack and I went with 4 other teachers to the Beach for Spring Break. It was a nice trip. Of course, we stayed at the Lee's Beach House. I feel so fortunate that they allow me to take my friends down there. I use the Beach House at least twice as often as Jason.

On Wednesday night, Jason's mother came to spend the night, so we could go out and so that I could spend some time on the beach. It rained our first couple of days, but Thursday was beautiful. Jack had a good time with the girls. They all love children and were great at keeping Jack entertained.

Was there every any doubt?

Jack is the absolute spitting image of his daddy. The picture below makes me laugh because 2 or 3 times a week Jason comes home from basketball in his orange, Auburn shorts.

Double Celebration.

Yesterday, was our 3 year anniversary. Fionnuala and Paul babysat Jack for a couple of hours, while Jason and I went to dinner.

Today, Jack is 9 months old. He is so active, now. He crawls all over the place. The cutest is when he gets on the tile floor and crawls on his hands and feet. I think the hard tile hurts his knees.

We went to Concord, this afternoon, to visit Holly and the other teachers. I didn't plan to work, but somehow it just happens. Jack spent a few hours with Holly, in her classroom, while I worked on computers.

I knew the button would not go over well.

Ready for bathtime!

The cheeks keep getting bigger!

Every time we go out in public, we have someone stop to comment on Jack's cheeks. The man that works at Publix always asks Jack if his parents are starving him, with his sunken in cheeks.

Why did I agree to this?

A couple of months ago, Jeff called Jason and asked to him to be a part of a chili cook-off team. This is to benefit The Exceptional Foundation. We both thought it sounded like fun. I pictured Jack and I on a blanket, at Homewood Park, playing in the sun. Meanwhile, 40 teams would be cooking huge pots of chili.

It's amazing how Mother Nature can put a twist on things.

What you can't tell from the picture:

1. It is 6:15am.
2. He is wearing 3 pairs of socks.
3. He has on thermal pants and pajama pants, under his jeans.
4. It is 28 degrees and snowing.
5. He has on, at least, 4 shirts.
6. His backpack contains another layer: a rain coat and rain pants.
6. Jason hates cold weather more than anything.

On the road again...

Jason spent last weekend in Enterprise to go to a race with his uncle. My parents were supposed to come to Bham to stay with Jack and me, but my dad needed to stay in Hunstville to work on Trinity's current Habitat House, so Jack and I loaded up and went north. It was a beautiful weekend. Unfortunately, the weather is going to turn cold, again, this week.

These are some pictures that we took before and after church. He is wearing one of Steven Cochrun's hand-me-down outfits. He actually made it through the entire church service. We rarely take him in Birmingham, but the church I grew up in has a wonderful contemporary service and he just sits with us.

I just love close-ups

He put his hands on the second step and then put his knees on the bottom one.

Something tells me that this isn't the last time we will see this face. haha.
